ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

From 2004 a policy of selection will be implemented for all undergraduate law programmes. This policy provides for the limitation of the number of new first year law students accepted for the following programmes: the four-year LLB, BA (Law), BComm (with Law Subjects) and BAcc LLB. In terms of the policy, all applicants are required to write the US admissions test. The results of the admissions test will be considered, in conjunction with school results, in the relation 40:60 to place students on a list of academic merit. The prospective student's academic merit will then be considered in conjunction with his/her non-academic merit in the relation 9:1. Non-academic merit will be determined by taking the following criteria into account: leadership qualities, participation in cultural activities and historical disadvantages. In line with the University's policy on diversity, the selection process will provide for the admission of students from underrepresented groups.

Applicants have to meet the admission requirements as set out below.

Applications close on 30 June of the year prior to study.

For more information applicable to prospective students please visit:
the Maties site
